Join NASEO for the Powering Up Data Centers discussion series, which will explore specific strategies State Energy Offices can use to address growing data center electricity demand while supporting energy affordability and grid reliability. Topics to be examined in this series include: site selection to optimize infrastructure utilization and grid-data center interactions; state-of-the art energy efficient cooling options (such as geothermal loops); projected innovations in chip design that would lower power use per computation; reliable and secure backup power and interaction of that power with state energy security plans; the latest data center energy and water sustainability from private developers such as QTS; and more. The goal of this discussion series is to enhance State Energy Offices’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with data centers – including the near, mid, and long-term computational demand of public and private organizations that will drive data center growth and use – and ensure that State Energy Offices are better equipped to develop policies and programs to meet the energy needs in their state and propel economic development.
