During the upcoming September NASEO Energy Security Committee meeting, multiple State and Territory Energy Offices will present on how their states have used funding from the U.S. State Energy Program (SEP) to advance energy security and emergency preparedness in their state. Many State and Territory Energy Offices have used SEP funds to support energy security initiatives, including programs to strengthen the resilience and reliability of electric utilities, provide backup power generation at critical facilities, develop and train workforces, map key infrastructure, and assess risk in critical energy infrastructure. Attendees will learn how successful programs have been designed and implemented, and how they might be replicated in other states.
SEP is authorized by Congress, and is provided via formula directly to State Energy Offices, enabling governors to strategically advance their energy priorities and opportunities while also supporting the national energy goals set by Congress and the Administration.
