The National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) will host a combined in-person event on June 12-14, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to address state energy security planning needs with a particular focus on risk assessment approaches and risk mitigation.
Risk Assessment Approaches and Risk Mitigation Strategies Cohorts Workshop
The Risk Assessment Approaches and Risk Mitigation Strategies Cohorts Workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 12, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for members of the Risk Assessment Approaches and Risk Mitigation Strategies Cohorts. These cohorts are part of the larger U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) cohort series, “Energy Security and Grid Resilience Cohorts” sponsored by DOE’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and the Grid Deployment Office in collaboration with NASEO, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
Energy Security Bootcamp
The Energy Security Bootcamp sponsored by CESER will begin at 8:00 am on Thursday, June 13 and adjourn at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 14, and will enhance state energy security planners’ and energy emergency responders’ ability to prepare for and respond to energy supply disruptions and emergencies. The bootcamp is also intended to facilitate intrastate and interstate coordination and planning for energy security.

Primary Audience: State Agencies
This event is intended for state agencies involved in energy security planning and who serve as State Emergency Support Function 12 – Energy (ESF-12) representatives (e.g., State and Territory Energy Offices, Public Utility Commissions, Governors’ Offices, Emergency Management Agencies, etc.) and/or are participating in the Risk Assessment Approaches and Risk Mitigation Strategies Cohorts. This invitation may be shared by and among state agencies at their discretion.
Secondary Audience: Key Partners
Key NASEO partners from the private sector, federal agencies, and local governments will be approved on an as-requested basis as space allows.
