Description:
This webinar provides an overview of the new AeroBarrier system and software innovations that better align with ANSI/RESNET 380. These innovations aim to enhance operations and ensure greater consistency with industry standards and best practices. We will also discuss how you can leverage pre-construction energy modeling to optimize customer projects through value engineering, particularly by using performance testing metrics. This approach adds additional value for you and your customers and can help to reduce overall construction costs.
Bios:
Ross MacPherson is an Application Engineer with Aeroseal, focusing on sealing technologies for building envelopes and ducts. Beginning in the 2000’s, Ross worked his way up from a laborer to project manager in a high-end residential construction firm. Looking to branch out, he became a HERS Rater and spent years working on thousands of projects in eastern Massachusetts. Upon the release of the AeroBarrier product, Ross built a successful installation company before joining Aeroseal corporate.
Professionally, Ross focuses on using building science to optimize and value engineer projects for architects, developers, and builders. His free time is spent with his family enjoying the outdoors and the oceans.
Mike Lyon has traveled the building science road through many interesting twists and turns to arrive where he is today. First starting out in 2003 as a new construction general contractor in Iowa before the events of 2009 forced the search for a new interest, energy efficiency – leading him to join a team of HERS Raters. Working for The Element Group, an energy consulting firm, he spearheaded the growth of the company – expanding from a handful of clients in Iowa to twelve states and over 300 multifamily and single family LIHTC projects requiring specific energy and sustainable certifications. In the summer of 2018 a demonstration of a new advanced air sealing application, AeroBarrier, convinced Mike and his colleagues this was the positive disruption to advance building techniques the industry needed. After investing in the technology, two years and 400+ AeroBarrier seals later, Mike felt it was time to personally make a larger impact, contribute not just on a regional scale for AeroBarrier but on a national scale. In early 2021, Mike came on board as a member of AeroBarrier corporate team – carrying the title as Lead Applications Engineer.
Mike’s honors include Technical Advisory Committee Member – Energy Efficiency & Sustainability State of Minnesota, Iowa, and Indiana LIHTC program, Energy Star Certified Homes Market Leader Award Recipient 2014-2020 (The Element Group), McDonald’s Spirit of Service Award Recipient, and Admiral in the Great Navy of Nebraska Award Recipient.
When he is not focused on AeroBarrier, you can find him diving into a woodworking project, flying airplanes, boating, or enjoying time with his two daughters and wife in the woods and lakes of Minnesota.
