TOPIC 1: Energy Management: Where do you begin?
Back to Basics: understanding your Utility Bill and why are you being penalized on your bill and from the city, and state? what is Power factor (PF)?
PF is not an understood concept, especially on how it affects the demand charges and rates. Yet, problems with this aspect of electrical systems
results in greater electrical utility costs, both from the point of electrical demand and consumption. Understand what power factor is in modern buildings and how it relates to equipment life, energy efficiency, and demand costs.
Determine what to focus on inside your electrical network to reduce high energy costs from the Utility.
TOPIC 2: Grid-interconnected Efficient Buildings (GEBs)
As grid systems such as Xcel Energy’s fully decarbonize, grid-interactive efficient buildings (GEBs) may have a key role to play. Leslie Martel Baer will provide an overview of what GEBs are, their potential benefits to building owners, grid operators and society at large. This exploration will include ideas regarding how GEBs may function as part of virtual power plants (VPPs) and serve as one of the key resources in achieving near 100% hourly carbon free electricity systems - both for large customers with early target dates (e.g., 2030) and for all customers on a system aiming for these levels of decarbonization.
