NASEO’s Financing Committee will host a call to discuss the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s recently-released announcement of its new Direct Pay program and how this program could impact public building financing mechanisms. Direct Pay enables public building owners to claim certain tax credits for qualifying energy upgrades on their properties. Direct Pay can enable public building owners to utilize financing mechanisms like Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) to more easily make renewable energy and other improvements to their properties that have traditionally been more limited in investment. Financing Committee members will hear from speakers about how Direct Pay can impact public building financing and engage in discussion about how they can inform key stakeholders about this program’s implementation.
