With state and regional efforts to advance a clean hydrogen economy rapidly expanding, it will be important to consider the corresponding economic development and workforce opportunities. Tax credits are available for clean hydrogen projects that will boost economic opportunity, and states investing in pilot demonstration projects will bring new revenue to local communities. To help address labor gaps across the clean hydrogen supply chain and expand access to careers in the sector, states can support workforce development efforts, such as re-training programs for former oil and gas workers or apprenticeship programs at local colleges and technical institutions.
