Under Section 40101(d) Formula Grant Program of the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA), the U.S. Department of Energy will provide grants to States, Indian Tribes, U.S. Territories and the District of Columbia to improve the resilience of their electric grids. The recently released Notice of Intent (NOI) provides information on DOE’s plans for implementation of Section 40101(d) of the IIJA. Draft requirements for states to apply for the formula grants include a description of the criteria, methods, and intended outcomes benefiting the public that will be used by the State or Indian Tribe to award grants to eligible entities; evidence of a notice and public hearing on the criteria and methods proposed by the State or Indian Tribe; a description of the proposed funding distributions and recipients of the grants to be provided by the State or Indian Tribe. During this NASEO Electricity Committee call, staff from the California Energy Commission (CEC) will outline their preliminary approach to implementing grant funding under 40101(d). After their kick-off remarks, we will open it up to questions and a conversation between NASEO state members, so please come armed with your own thoughts, challenges, success stories, and questions!
