Digital Pressure Reducing Valves is a lesser known solution to efficiently manage low pressure steam systems resulting in cost and energy savings. Steam distribution systems utilizing saturated steam are potential candidates for modulating the steam system operating pressure to match the heating load requirements. Modulating the pressure up and down instead of setting the pressure for peak load conditions can achieve significant cost savings. Within practical limits, pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) will adjust the pressure at the lower levels to controlled set points to better match the specific heating or process load at these times. Most of the benefits from pressure reduction occurs due to the differential pressures between the peak system demand and the minimum demand.
Learning Objectives:
-
Participants will understand how Digital PRVs positively impact savings especially in federal, municipal and educational settings.
-
Participants will be able to recognize opportunities resulting in improved efficiency and decreased operational expense.
-
Participants will understand and quantify the savings that can be experienced by installing Digital PRVs.
-
Participants will be provided an overview of ECM opportunities that are most often missed as it pertains to steam system efficiencies in common ESCO target verticals.
