The US has an aggressive 15 year decarbonization plan with its target for emissions free power sector by 2035 and goal to cut economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 by 50-52% versus 2005 levels. But how aggressive and achievable is this? In this session, we will compare what the US accomplished from 2005-2020 and what needs to happen in the 2020-2035 time frame. How did the last 15 years impact traditional energy, jobs and consumer prices. Looking forward, we will explain what technologies and market mechanisms are needed in major economic sectors like power, transportation and industrials to achieve the US target. If the glide path to 2035 is viable, what sort of immediate investable activity should we see? What impacts will this have on markets and jobs?
We are joined by two experts from Bloomberg New Energy Finance: Yayoi Sekine, head of Decentralized Energy practice, and Thomas Rowlands-Rees, head of North America analysis. Jason Lemme, NY Energy Forum board member and Managing Director at Hartree Partners will moderate the discussion.
This event will be a virtual session via Zoom from 12:00 until 1:30 PM. Additional details will be provided to registered attendees prior to the session.
