In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and consequent economic recession, please join the energy forum in this session to explore investor views on the market and whether or not, and why, they find the current situation as an opportunity to invest in distressed energy assets, equities and underlying commodities. Our speakers are Don Dimitrievich, Managing Director at HPS Investment Partners, and David Chang, Senior Managing Director at Wellington Management.

Louise Burke, our board President and Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Argus Media, will moderate the discussion.

SPEAKERS 

Don Dimitrievich

Mr. Don Dimitrievich is a Managing Director at HPS Investment Partners and is responsible for the energy and power portfolio. HPS has invested ~ $7.8 billion in the energy and power sectors.  Prior to joining HPS in 2012, Mr. Dimitrievich was a Managing Director of Citi Credit Opportunities, a credit-focused principal investment group. At Citi Credit Opportunities, Mr. Dimitrievich oversaw the energy and power portfolio and invested in mezzanine, special situations and equity co-investments. Prior to joining Citi, Mr. Dimitrievich worked in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP from 1998 to 2004, focusing on energy mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. Mr. Dimitrievich has a law degree magna cum laude from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and earned a chemical engineering degree with Great Distinction from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada.

David A. Chang

Mr. David A. Chang, CFA, is Senior Managing Director at Wellington Management. He manages commodity portfolios for institutional investors worldwide, drawing on research from Wellington Management’s global industry analysts, equity portfolio managers, and team analysts. He currently manages several commodities-related approaches. David is a member of the Wellington Management Foundation, and is based in Boston.

Mr. Chang earned his BA in quantitative economics and international relations, magna cum laude, from Tufts University (2001) and currently serves as chair of the Advisory Board to the Tufts School of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and the CFA Institute.

MODERATOR

Louise Burke

Louise Burke is President, Energy Forum Advisory Board and is currently working for Argus Media on strategic business initiatives for the company. Prior to this, Ms. Burke was Executive Director of the Energy Forum, and president of J.C. Energy, an energy consulting firm. She has worked extensively in the energy sector analyzing pricing and markets for Mobil Oil Canada, Alberta Energy Company and Petroleos DeVenezuela. In addition, as Vice-President, Marketing for the New York Mercantile Exchange she supervised major energy and metals futures and options product launches and was closely involved in the successful growth of energy commodity markets. Ms Burke has also been affiliated with the SIPA energy program at Columbia University, New York as an instructor in the area of petroleum markets trading since 2008. Ms. Burke holds a BA honors economics degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA from New York University.
