NASEO-NARUC GEB Working Group Webinar: Grid-interactive Appliances

July 27, 2020, 3:00 - 4:30 PM ET

Grid-interactive appliances and equipment offer means to better manage electricity loads to reduce costs and peak loads, improve grid management and reliability, and support renewable energy and emissions objectives. Demand flexibility at the appliance level is garnering increasing attention from utilities, manufacturers, policymakers, regulators, energy service firms, and the U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR program.  This webinar provided multiple perspectives on grid-interactive appliance developments, including from the ENERGY STAR program, which is developing relevant voluntary specifications, A.O. Smith, the nation’s largest water heater manufacturer, and the State of Washington, which has enacted a first-in-the nation standard requiring grid communications ports in electric storage water heaters.

This webinar was offered under the aegis of the NASEO-NARUC Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings (GEB) Working Group. For more information, please contact Rodney Sobin (rsobin@naseo.org) or Ed Carley (ecarley@naseo.org).
