Regional and national energy efficiency professionals gathered Nov. 7-8. 2019, in Broomfield, CO for SWEEP’s 16th Annual Southwest Utility Energy Efficiency Workshop. The annual forum draws leading utility, regulatory, state, federal, non-profit and industry representatives to discuss the status of utility demand-side management (DSM) programs in the Southwest and learn about innovative DSM programs and technologies.
The 2019 workshop featured engaging panel discussions with representatives from eight electric and gas utilities that operate in the region, as well as a keynote presentation from Dane Christensen, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). In addition, experts presented on recent developments in integrated energy efficiency and demand response programs, distribution system planning, light bulb efficiency standards and lighting market developments, heat pumps and beneficial electrification, energy savings evaluation, and more.
At the workshop, SWEEP presented Leadership in Energy Efficiency awards to Colorado State Senator Faith Winter, Colorado State Representative Meg Froelich, and Colorado State Representative Cathy Kipp. Other recipients not present were New Mexico State Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino and New Mexico State Representative Andrea Romero. All five individuals were sponsors of important energy efficiency legislation adopted in their respective states in 2019.
