Rubenstein Senior Fellow for Energy and the Environment at the Council on Foreign Relations, will discuss geopolitical developments and the evolving relationship between Saudi Arabia and Russia. Abhishek Deshpande, Head of J.P. Morgan's Global Oil Market Research and Strategy, will delve into the oil market implications.

Abhishek Deshpande

Dr. Abhishek Deshpande is Head of J.P. Morgan’s Global Oil Market Research and Strategy team.  Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in  2017,  Dr.  Deshpande  was  Head  of  the  Global  Energy  Research  team  at  Natixis  SA  based  in  London  and  also  worked  at  Indian  Oil  Corporation  Limited.    He  has  a  doctorate  in  Chemical  Engineering  from  Cambridge  University  &  is  a  Fellow  and  Chartered Member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and Energy Institute U.K.  Dr. Deshpande also received Petroleum Economist & Energy Risk Awards in 2016 & 2017.

Amy Jaffe

Amy Myers Jaffe is the David M. Rubenstein Senior Fellow for Energy and the Environment at the Council on Foreign Relations. For the past several years, Ms. Jaffe has served as Executive Director for Energy and Sustainability at the University of California Davis, and senior advisor on energy and sustainability at the Office of the Chief Investment Officer of the University of California Regents. She was also formerly a global fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Prior to joining the University of California, Davis, Amy served as founding director of the Energy Forum at Rice University's James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy and its Wallace S. Wilson fellow for energy studies.

Ms. Jaffe is widely published, including as coauthor of Oil, Dollars, Debt and Crises: The Global Curse of Black Gold with Mahmoud El-Gamal and coeditor of Natural Gas and Geopolitics From 1970 to 2040. She is a member of the U.S. National Petroleum Council and the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Future Council on International Security. Prior to serving on the International Security panel, Ms. Jaffe was chair of the Global Agenda Council on the Future of Oil and Gas for the WEF. She was awarded the Senior Fellow award from the United States Association for Energy Economics in 2015 for her career contributions to the organization and to the field of energy economics.

Michael Tran

Michael Tran is a Managing Director within the Energy Strategy Research team at RBC Capital Markets based in New York. He is responsible for views pertaining to global energy markets including macro supply and demand fundamentals. He was formerly in a similar capacity at CIBC World Markets where he was part of a team that was previously voted most accurate forecaster of WTI oil prices by Bloomberg. Prior to that, he worked on the energy sales and trading desk at CIBC in Calgary and UBS Investment Bank in London. He has also held various roles at BP and has experience in energy investment banking.

Mr. Tran's energy views are frequently quoted in media outlets and he routinely appears on television networks like Bloomberg and BNN. Mr. Tran is a frequent advisor to the Alberta government on energy policy and budgeting. He is also a former co-chair of the Commodities committee for New York Energy Week. He graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and Economics.
