Energy codes are a unique opportunity for local governments to directly affect national energy policy. The votes of local government voting representatives determine model codes such as the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Incorporating energy efficiency in buildings during their construction is among the most cost effective ways to achieve significant improvements in energy efficiency and to advance local sustainability goals.
The event will provide an introduction to the IgCC, and will present information about the update process for model codes and how to participate in the online voting to update the IgCC that will take place October 15-29.
This event is aimed at local government staff, especially building department, code enforcement, and sustainability staff, and anyone else interested in the IgCC, in the greater New York region.
