Brief Biographies:
Philip Rinaldi
CEO of Philadelphia Energy Solutions
Philip Rinaldi, a strategic advisor to the Carlyle Group private equity firm, is a principal partner in and Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia Energy Solutions LLC. Mr. Rinaldi is an entrepreneurial industrialist whose career has focused on energy, chemical and natural resource industries where he specializes in finding good but undervalued businesses in his area of interest; acquiring those targets with partner groups tailored to the specific situation; and then leading the development of these businesses through their maturity.
Mr. Rinaldi has been an investor and/or the principal executive in a wide range of industries, including: oil refining, oil exploration, phosphate mining and chemical production, coke gasification, nitrogen chemical production, zinc refining, and production of molybdenum, rhenium, and vanadium derivatives. Mr. Rinaldi’s industrial background includes prominent companies such as Exxon, Phibro, Tosco, Coffeyville Resources, Conserve, Seminole, and Mulberry Corporation.
Mr. Rinaldi is a member of the Board of TexOak Energy, LLC., an oil and gas production company; and he serves as Chairman of the Board of Overseers of New Jersey Institute of Technology, the state’s science and technology research university.
Mr. Rinaldi earned his BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1968 and 1976, respectively. As an undergraduate, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Delta National Leadership Honor Society and Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Academic Honor Society; Phil also served as President of Theta Chi Fraternity, President of the Inter-fraternity Council, and President of the Class of 1968.
Peter Rosenthal
Managing Director, Power Fundamentals, Constellation Energy
Peter Rosenthal is managing director, power fundamentals at Constellation Energy, a subsidiary of Exelon. In that role, Peter performs fundamental analysis and forecasting of power, fuels and emissions as well as policy and macro-economic trends, primarily for Constellation’s merchant and retail energy arms.
Prior to joining Constellation in 2006, Peter was Washington Bureau Chief at Argus Media, where he directed coverage of coal, emissions, power, gas and other energy markets. From 1997 to 2001, Peter was a New York bureau chief at the former financial wire service, BridgeNews, also leading coverage of global energy markets.
Peter received his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and his master’s in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in 2008.
Cheryl J. Trench
President of Allegro Energy Consulting
Cheryl Trench is President of Allegro Energy Consulting and focuses extensively on issues related to oil and gas pipelines and their markets. Her analyses cover a broad variety of issues, including pipeline infrastructure, the industry's safety performance and programs, and the impact of regulatory mandates. She routinely supplies analysis to the government, the press, and industry. Prior to establishing Allegro Energy Consulting in 1997, she was with the authoritative industry think tank Petroleum Industry Research Foundation for 22 years.
