A growing number of cities across the U.S. are developing clean energy goals and action plans as part of their overall sustainability efforts. Cities and counties (as well as states and private companies) will likely play an increasingly important role in advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy in the next several years. Local government clean energy goals range from modest, such as to increase local participation in utility energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, to aggressive, such as to purchase 100% renewable energy or become carbon neutral. This interactive webinar focuses on the challenges and rewards of developing and implementing a clean energy action plan at the local government level. The webinar features an overview of the energy goal-setting and planning process, with presentations on the successes, struggles and unique experiences from four local governments in the Southwest.
