This course takes a look at how and why Continuous Insulation improves thermal comfort.  It takes attendees beyond the theoretical reasoning for CI and illustrates the theory through on-site photos and practical application.  It explains why assemblies and systems are important to consider beyond just the thermal resistance of the materials alone as well as debunks a few of the myths that working with CI is difficult.  Finally, the course finishes with a few third-party tested examples of how systems utilizing CI outperform many existing assemblies that have been used across North America for years.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the building science principles behind thermal comfort
  • Review thermal resistance of assemblies vs. materials which translate to building occupant comfort
  • Explain practical solutions for working with continuous insulation to ensure building envelope integrity.
  • Review third-party testing proving thermal performance of wall assemblies
