NASEO hosted a webinar exploring workforce development programs in the energy sector and opportunities for State Energy Offices on Friday, December 9, 2016. The webinar provided an overview of the need for workforce development in the energy sector, highlighted relevant resources, and explored opportunities for states to learn more about workforce development opportunities in their jurisdictions. Speakers included: David Foster, Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy, who provided an overview of the U.S. Energy and Employment Report, upcoming state profiles in the workforce development sector, and the Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Initiative; Julie Lawhorn with the Appalachian Regional Commission, who discussed the importance of diversification and the POWER initiative; and Ann Randazzo, Director at the Center for Energy Workforce Development, who provided an overview of CEWD's resources and opportunities for states to get involved in the State Energy Workforce Consortia.
