The course will cover the following:

Day 1:

We will cover combustion appliance safety testing protocols, including field demonstrations and the associated work scope recommendations (Sections 805-809 from Chapter 8 in the RESNET Mortgage Industry National Home Energy System Standard).

          ~  Carbon Monoxide Testing Protocols

          ~  Ambient Unvented Appliances

     *  Vented Appliances

     *  Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) Worst Case Depressurization

          ~  Single

          ~  Dual

Work Scope Preparation

     *  Carbon Monoxide Thresholds and Work Scope Language

     *  Worst Case Depressurization Thresholds and Work Scope Language

     *  Using the "Combustion Appliance Safety Work Scope Recommendation Table for Naturally Drafting Appliances (Category 1 or 2 according to NFPA standard 54)” to Determine Work Scope Language

Day 2:

Group Exercises, Using the Interplay Tool Training.

     *  Review Day 1 Information

     *  Instructor Led Demonstrations

     *  Student Simulator Practice Sessions

There will be a separate $50 fee the student will pay to RESNET at the time of the exam.

 

Exam Information:

1. Multiple choice exam Fee - $50 - Student will pay to RESNET at Time of Exam (not included in the Texas HERO course fee

The open book multiple choice exam consists of 25 questions and a 2 hour time limit. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the exam (90% for Certified Trainers).

 

2. RES-CAZ practical exam, an internet based 3-D simulation exam Fee - $199.00 - Paid to Interplay (included in the Texas HERO course fee)

Candidates will be provided access to the RES-CAZ Simulator one week before the training, in order to familiarize themselves with the system. The exam is open book and the candidate has 2 hours to complete the simulation exam. A score of 85% or higher is required to pass the simulation exam (90% for Certified Trainers).

Results will be immediately available and independently verified.

This course qualifies for 10 hours of RESNET® Rater Development Credit.
